The world steel consumption

The world steel consumption in 2010 recorded a level of 1272.2 million tons, with 13.1% higher than that achieved in 2010.
For 2011 it is estimated a slowdown in consumption growth, achieving its growth with 5.3%. Informs Worldsteel Association, Brussels.

 

Favorable opinions

The
opinions expressed recently by the managers of companies in Romania, in a survey of the National Institute of Statistics, for the period March- May 2011,  is shaping a relative stability in the retail sector, moderate growth in services and growth in manufacturing and constructions, in comparison with the previous three months.

 

 The steel production

In the first two months of 2011, worldwide were produced 243.6 million tons of crude steel, with 10.4% more than in the corresponding period in 2010. Major increases were recorded in Asia 11.3% (including South Korea 24.7% and China 11.9%), South America 11%, North America 8.1%, CIS 8.5 % and EU 7.5%.

Romania has produced 560,000 tons of crude steel in this period in 2011, with 8.6% more than the same period in 2010.

 

Privatization in the copper industry in Romania

Two copper mining companies,  Abrud Cuprumin and Moldomin Moldova Noua, are released for sale. Because of China, the price per tonne of copper has exploded in the last two years from $ 2,700 to $ 10,000.
The amount
of copper stores in Romania is estimated at 5-10 billion, at current prices.
Cuprumin Abrud was released recently at privatization  by The State through public auctions, after last year the company has increased business five times, up to € 27 million and a profit of about € 4 million, compared with losses of € 4 million in 2009.

Moldosim was put on the sale list by the
judicial administrator of the company, RTZ & Partners firm. Three specifications have already been purchased, and on 26 May 2011  start the direct negotiations, informs Mediafax.
