Zinc
Products \ Non-ferrous metals \ Zinc

OBTAINED:
- from complex concentrates (Pb - Zn), by oxidizing roasting, followed by a reduction in furnace (ISP process);
- Gross Zinc obtained in the furnace, is then purified by fractional distillation (New-Jersey process), or by electrolytic refining;
- hydrometallurgical process, when the fried concentration is subject to solubilization, resulting Zn S04. After purification, the solution is subject to electrolysis when it results Zinc with a purity of min. 99.99% Zn.

USAGE:
-to cover steel plates and sheets for anticorrosive protection;
-to obtain copper alloys, corrosion resistant (brass, alpaca)
-to obtain pressure castings from zinc alloys (Zamac) etc..
-to obtain zinc oxide, used in pigments plant, rubber industry, medicine, ceramics etc.

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES:  white-blue metal, breakable, non-deformable when cold, but it can be laminated/rolled between 100 - 150oC.
MATERIAL SPECIFICATION: - STAS 646-88, ASTM B949, SR EN 1179:2001
