Lead
OBTAINED - from plumb- zinc concentrates, oxidating roasted on Dwight - Loyd agglomeration bands. Agglomerates are reduced inside the furnace (ISP process) and the crude lead is then electrolytically refined in aqueous solutions, providing the purity of min. 99.95% Pb.
USAGE:
- Generally, lead is used to obtain the antifriction and soldering alloys;
- lead is an ideal material for building the radiation protection walls;
- lead is also widely used for the batteries manufacture.
PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES: - soft metal, dark gray color, with high density.
