DESCRIPTION: - an alloy of iron and manganese, with manganese content between 70 and 95%.
OBTAINED:- mainly by reducing the oxides of iron and manganese, with coal (coke) in the furnace.
USAGE:
- For the production of alloy steels, manganese content providing a good deoxidation, increasing mechanical properties, and reducing the decarburization degree of the molten steel;
- Added to gray cast irons, it increases the fluidity in the molten state
