Massive lay-offs in the steel industry Solicita detalii

The largest German steelmaker, ThyssenKrupp, will lay off twenty thousand employees, as part of the reducing production costs program. Half of the lay-offs will be operated at the factories in Germany, according to what the company sources said. ThyssenKrupp will also put on the market the Industrieservice and Safway U.S. divisions for sale, where there are approximate nine thousand, respectively, five thousand employees. It will also restructure two shipyards, operation which will lead to 3.5 thousand lay-offs. In 2008, ThyssenKrupp reduced its costs by over one billion euros and laid off two thousand employees fired from the production.
