MECHEL (Russia) - new acquisitions Solicita detalii

Bank community sources give as certain the integral taking over by MECHEL Steelworks Group (Russia) of the mini-factory DEMZ of Donetsk (Ukraine), with about 1 million tons yearly capacity. DEMZ factory had been mortgaged to the Russian banking and financial group Alfa-Group by the former owner, the Russian holding ESTAR, to guarantee a loan of about one billion dollars, which remained outstanding. There are indications that Alfa-Group does not want to manage the unit and that it would have reached an agreement on the price that MECHEL would have to pay. DEMZ mainly produces TC semis and hot rolled special steels, including stainless and bearing steels.
